Liberty ended early today for a special event planned for all the sailors here who are about to deploy. This is a military town and many people volunteer their time and efforts to make active duty feel appreciated as they have been or know someone close to them in the same situation as us. Although it has the feels of a dog and pony show I genuinely feel the appreciation from the dependents, retirees, and locals. We had veterans dated back to WW2 and current veterans who have been injured in combat. They baked cookies, provided snacks for us to take in theater, and other special deployable gifts to keep morale up.
Simple day overall as time here at NIACT comes to a close.
