"the moment"

i had an interesting conversation with a friend and it was along the lines of this...

there are times in our lives when we lose ourselves and are caught up in "the moment." the moment can be used in the context of any life experience. there is nothing wrong with doing that because these are our chances to escape our ordinary lives for a period of time. the experiences we go through when we are in "the moment" can be the greatest times in our lives as these are one of a kind experiences that don't come around too often, so we cherish them too the fullest.

but what happens when the moment passes you by? all you can do is pick up where you left off and move on from there learn and grow from the experiences. you cant do anything but look back at the time you had. sometimes people just want to tow along what they had but as they move on, they cant go full steam ahead as they're always holding on to what they had in the moment. sometimes people get caught up and stall the inevitable of trying to move on from the moment because it brings a reality check of what life is all about...hard work and dedication. maybe they're scared of what is to come but that is what makes life a winding road, there are no straight roads in life.

but if you continue to look back on "the moment" then actually do something about it instead of being like a dog chasing its tail in a circle cause in reality you're delaying the inevitable. its not often that i talk about things like this so i thought i'd make it a point to jot it down.

enough with the "real-life" shit...here's some bitching!

so i'm the regular guy now twice a wekk collecting email addresses at our open bar events to build up our contact list. one of my bosses (he's a cool guy and all, love working with him) has such high expectations with the number of emails he wants at each event. he expects hundreds or more when in fact on a good night i'll get 60-100. 1/2 the people are already signed up with us, sometimes 1/4 are tourist, which leaves 1/4 for me to get. those aren't very good odds when he wants me to be picky of all the people i get...most of the time he just wants girls which greatly reduces my numbers.

i'm giving a 110% percent out there and trying my best, but tomorrow i'm shooting for the stars! i'm going to meet his expectations and get the job done! because de la soul is performing for free and theres going to be at least a thousand people. really excited to see them perform as i've never seen them before.
